Movin' on UP...to the East side!

Well, HELLO! I know I've been slightly vacant from the blogging world recently, but I do have a few great excuses! As you probably already know-WE MOVED!!! I'm so excited to finally be at our first house together! Yes, we did live in Cody's bachelor pad for about a month, but honestly, that doesn't count as a home! So, as this past month meandered on, we kept praying and seeking to find a perfect place for us. God was so faithful! We have a fantastic little townhouse with a dishwasher, washer and dryer and brand new carpet! haha You'll never appreciate the little things in life until you are without them for a month.

I am so grateful for our new little place, at the perfect price. I am so happy we were patient and waited for God to direct us to the perfect place for us, at this time. It is so reassuring knowing this is exactly where we are supposed to be. I know it seems silly being so "spiritual" over a house, but we have received such a confirmation for staying in Blacksburg over the past few months, and this is another great indication of our needing to stay here!

On another note, the church Cody is working for, Northstar Church, is in a time of transition. Originally begun as a church plant nearly 6 years ago, Cody climbed on board as their Worship/Youth/College Pastor, last August. Since then, the church has had a few ups and downs, but God has kept a core group of beleivers together. About a month ago, the pastor, who "founded" the church, declared his retirement and the need for the church to begin searching for a new Senior Pastor. Though we love Pastor Jackson and his wife, we are so excited for this new leaf to be turned. Our church is in dire need of new life and we are greatly anticipating God's hand to direct and guide us in this search. Oh and by the way, in God's great sense of humor, I made it to the Pastor's Search Committee...haha. For some reason, they really like me here. hahaha. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm married to the guy they love even more! Anyways, all that to say, please pray for God to lead the right man to our church and to give us wisdom in selecting our new pastor!

A Land Called Smuckers

This past weekend, we went to Ohio for our second wedding reception! We were so blessed to have both sets of our parents spend the weekend with us. Just as in the past, we enjoy a few tourist spots! This time we went to Smuckers Country, the P. Graham Dunn Gallery and a cute little dive, where we got burgers and fries on the patio!

Mom and Dad enjoying Smuckers!
Cody getting a little too close to the Pillsbury Dough Boy
The boys were discussing something about food, im sure!
My love for pickles has finally been documented.
Wheat grass shots!!! I dared Cody--he was NOT happy about it!

Then we really liked it! It was actually quite tasty!
The group giving the sample girls a run for their money
The wall of jam and the strawberry "chandelier" made of jars!
What we really wanted to get but being healthy isn't fun, at least not instantaneously!

Outside the land of Smuckers!

The main entrance--absolutely gorgeous
"How Great Thou Art" engraved on a 20 foot piece of Oak
Looking into the studio, where they make the artwork
The men hoovering over the young girl engraving their knives
Cody's favorite part of the day
My dad with the ladies!
aww he snuck a kisser!
Bishop's--great food and fun times!

We are so blessed by all the incredible times we have with our family! We are so incredibly blessed, by Christ, to have family that support and love us. Later that night we had our 2nd reception and a fabulous lady from Cody's home church took pictures! Hopefully I'll have some up soon!!

Please keep us in your prayers, we love y'all!!!

Heart of a Servant

For all of y'all who do not know, Cody, my hubs, is a youth pastor at his church! The youth consist of just a few kids, but they have incredible hearts and love Christ with everything! This past week Cody wanted to do something a little different, so he began by speaking in I Peter regarding a servant's heart. To further demonstrate, we had gotten bottles of water and big signs with "FREE WATER" written on them and headed outside to the locals!

We had such a great time and the kids loved it! I'm so proud of Cody and all God is using him to do at Northstar, especially in the youth department! Keep us in your prayers as we continue to minister and love on the youth and soon to be college in August!!

Fourth of July!!

As per the past 4 years, my family ventures from the sweltering heat of Fort Myers, FL to the beautiful mountainous terrain of Boone, NC...namely Seven Devils! This year was no different, even with the impending "marrying off" of their last and only daughter, me, my parents made the pilgramage to their mecca--the beloved mountain house! So, the new hubs and I packed up the car in Blacksburg (a mere 3 days after arriving in VA) and headed south to celebrate the freedom of our nation. We had a BLAST! Not only did we get to peruse my parents new house, we fellowshiped with everyone and were finally able to have conversations with people that attended our wedding! Not to mention, we got more presents!!! :)

We arrived Thursday evening and enjoyed our favorite cuisine-Japanese Food at Makoto's in Boone! After our mouths and tummies were satisfied, we headed home for the evening and simply sat and chatted until the wee hours of the night.

Friday, the day of our Independence, we were able to relax and enjoy the mountains. We ran a few errands with the parents and got all ingredients for the famous "Mama Lee's Banana Pudding". Cody and I had the honor of making that for the big Fourth of July party at the Miller's home, a few streets away!

We had great food, fantastic conversation and amazing fireworks!

The next day was the Seven Devils BBQ and the Blowing Rock Independence Day Parade. Sadly, the weather was horrible so we briefly made it to the BBQ *where Cody and I won a free tank of propane gas--yipee!!* So, we headed to the parade, but just watched a few minutes from the car, due to the hostile weather conditions! But, because it rained we were able to make it to see Corey and Cissie (a fellow blogger and reason why im starting one) Lynch and catch up for a few minutes!

So, all in all it worked out quite well! Hope y'all had a wonderful 4th of July! Never forget the ultimate freedom we have in Christ!

Happy Three Week-a-versary!!

Today, Cody and I have been married for three weeks! The past three weeks have been a whirlwind of happiness and post-nuptial events!
Honeymoon in Mexico--on a Sunset Cruise

From our honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to the Fourth of July with my parents in North Carolina to our Second Reception back in Wooster, Ohio with Cody's church family--we are finally ready to settle down and start our life (or the multiple gifts returning process!) We have seen many couples get married and in a sense, "fall off the earth"! We want to defy the status quo and strive to keep everyone up-to-date, with possibly a little humor along the way! So, this is just a story about us and God working in our life!! Hope you enjoy and come back to visit!!
